Very Poor Service – Avoid if You Have a Flight to Catch Extremely disappointing experience with Sixt Samui. When we first arrived at the counter, no staff was there. We waited around 15 minutes with no explanation. There was no phone number answered, no WhatsApp response, and no way to contact anyone. When returning the car, the situation was even worse. The staff told us to call them, but again no one answered calls or WhatsApp messages. We parked the car and walked to the desk, only to find out the staff had gone to the restroom for a very long time. Our flight was departing soon, so we had to ask other rental companies around to help contact Sixt staff. Even then, it still took a very long time for anyone to show up. This level of service is unacceptable, especially at an airport where timing is critical. Very stressful, poorly managed, and highly unprofessional. Would not recommend, especially if you are on a tight schedule.
One month after returning the car still no bond back despite several calls and messages. Car has been dropped off with no issue and full tank. Going to escalate to Sixt HQ, unacceptable !
I split my time in Samui and whenever we have a large group of visitors or need more than just our personal scooter, I always rent from SIXT at the airport. After trying many, many options on the island, they have proven to be the best. Fair prices, great selection of cars, easy to contact, and the staff is consistently friendly (Pat especially!). Highly recommend.
"Great and comfortable Peugeot SUV. 20,000 THB for 9 days. Rented in Samui, returned in Bangkok. No issues at all
Dear Sixt Thailand Customer Service, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an uncomfortable and suspicious experience I had at your Sixt counter at Koh Samui Airport on [insert date here – e.g., July 25, 2025]. I had booked a Toyota Fortuner vehicle in advance via the Sixt mobile application. Upon arriving at the Sixt counter approximately two hours before my flight, a staff member approached me and offered to rent me a private 4x4 vehicle, claiming it was her own personal car and not part of Sixt's fleet. When I declined the offer, she suddenly stated that there were no larger or upgraded vehicles available through Sixt. However, shortly afterward, she contradicted herself and said there actually was a larger vehicle available. Throughout this interaction, she was speaking Thai, which I could not understand, making the situation more confusing and uncomfortable. This behavior was unprofessional and gave the impression that the staff member was trying to conduct a personal transaction outside of Sixt's official process. I respectfully request that you investigate this matter, as I believe it undermines the professionalism and integrity of your brand
This was the worst car rental experience we've had. The car broke down and would not start. Contacted sixt and asked us to come to the airport to replace the car. Which is very difficult to do when the car won't start. After that they completely ignored us and didn't respond to any messages. In the end we had to leave the car abandoned at the hotel. When I went to the agency to return the car keys they wasnt anyone there to accept the keys, even though we had made a plan to meet them. We had to leave the keys with a nearby rental agency and go so that we could catch our flight. Sometimes there will be a problem with a car that is no one's fault. But when they won't even respond to our messages or pick up the phone that's a different kind of problem. We ended up wasting far too much of our vacation time trying to fix their problems, and we ended up paying far more to get around because we had to take taxis everywhere. It would have been cheaper for us if we just took taxis and didn't rent at all. Hopefully other customers dont have the same kind of experience we did. Since we couldnt even talk to anyone at the rental agency, we have no idea what is going to happen next. Hopefully they pick up the car from the hotel before the hotel tows it away.
We rented a car for seven days, and while the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the vehicle quality was disappointing. I was given a Hyundai with a misaligned steering wheel – it veered off-center when driving straight. No cruise control, no entertainment features – quite basic. I’ve had much better experiences with Sixt before, especially since they promote having the latest vehicles. So, while the staff deserves 5 stars, I’d rate the vehicles at 1 star.
Very happy with the rental, a brand new Toyota Yaris. Pick up in the arrivals hall was simple and well organised, as was the drop off. If I come back to Koh Samui I will be using again.
